Teen Therapy Must Be Consistent

Teen Therapy | Paradigm Malibu

The key to successful teen therapy is the consistency. If you are looking for a way to get help for your teen, you need to make sure that you are really dedicated to the process. You need to talk to your teen about how this is not just going to be a one-time thing that you will forget about quickly. When both of you are committed to the long-term goals, you can see positive results.

There are a few different reasons why consistency is so important, the first of which is just that you have to work hard to break habits. Maybe your teen is struggling with alcohol use. Maybe harder drugs have been the issue. Either way, these things can be habit forming. Your teen may not even be addicted in the technical sense, but those habits are still there, and they can be very strong. You must spend enough time to fight through the habits and then create new ones. This is not something that can be done in one session.

On top of that, it is important to remember that success itself can help push your teen forward. He or she wants to get better. When the teen sees how helpful the teen therapy can be, and how it can create changes in a very real sense, they will understand that it is possible for the long-term goals to be met. You have to stick with it long enough that this initial success becomes evident for this to work.
