Available Treatments At A Substance Abuse Rehab Facility

Drug Rehabilitation | Paradigm Malibu
If you or a loved one is dealing with a drug abuse issue, you may be curious about what a rehabilitation clinic can do to help.  Drug abuse and addiction is a very serious issue that can become life threatening if left untreated.  If you’re dealing with somebody who is abusing drugs, or you yourself are addicted, the time to act is now.  Every person is different, and the available treatments at a rehab facility should reflect this.  From residential treatment to group therapy, effective drug rehabilitation should be tailored to the individual and comprehensive in scope.

Initial Evaluation and Detoxification

The first step to take toward successful drug rehabilitation is full detoxification.  In order for professionals to properly assess the needs of a client and the best strategy, it’s essential that all mind-altering drugs to be out of their system.  Following detox, facility staff will be able to tailor an individualized plan for recovery.  This initial evaluation and plan will take into account medical, psychological, and family factors.  Not all plans will include a residential stay, but those that do typically last 30-90 days.

Not Just Residential Treatment

Non-residential plans are often referred to as Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs).  While IOPs don’t involve living in a residential facility full-time, they do require a major time commitment beyond a client’s work or school commitments.  IOPs may involve consistent counseling and group therapy multiple times during the week for a pre-determined amount of time.  Further requirements may involve community accountability partners and additional meetings with rehab staff.

Willingness On Behalf Of The Client

As any addiction expert or former addict will tell you, a successful drug rehabilitation plan requires willingness on the part of the person suffering from addiction.  Any treatment plan recommended by a rehab facility will fail without the mutual inclination on the part of the addict to participate.  The freedom that comes with overcoming a drug addiction is a gift of new life worth pursuing at any cost.
